Forum 3: Animate!

Anticipation:
My animation project will include a decent amount of anticipation; as I have both planned and actually animated a fighting technique with my Darth Revan character. He will be using two light sabers. One of the sabers will be blocking while the other goes in for a stabbing animation. Their will be anticipation in both of the arms as one will be going up to brace the block, and the other arm will be drawing back preparing to lunge forward. "Anticipation is used to prepare the viewer for an action, such as a crouch before a jump or an arm pulling back for a punch." (Cooper, pg. 30).

Follow through and overlapping action:
My animation project will have secondary animations to accompany and compliment the main animation aspect of the project. I have a few planned and a few already semi-animated. One will be head movements from the character; as he moves. Another secondary action will be his cape moving and flowing with his movements. I also plan on adjusting his feet depending on his stances and movements. "Overlapping action covers the notion that different parts of a character's body will move at different rates." (Cooper, pg. 32).

Arcs:
My character will have a great deal of arcs in his movements; as he will be swinging his light sabers in different directions, but with arc like elements. His legs will also being using arc shapes to follow a path of his walking aspects. In the Follow through and overlapping his head will also be moving on an arc like path to coincide with the movement of his body. Most actions naturally follow arcs as elements of the object or character move, such as arms and legs swinging while walking." (Cooper, pg. 35).
